Crystalized

By Mario Voigt, 13 October, 2020

Today i printed Jason Surlock's crystal structure from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3037485 (CC-BY).

Was a lot of fun to make some shiny 400 mm tall crystal of 700 grams of translucent PLA by Das Filament. While printing i recognized a lot of stringing (fine hairs). So i am going to adjust the printer profile next time. Seems i have to lower the temperature a bit to avoid oozing while the head is traveling. But i am happy with the result because it finished without any leaks or printer pause.

The timelapse video capture:

While watching the video i also recognized a lot of wobbling. Next time i will try to make a better camera fixation to avoid the jumping.

The result lighted by some regular smart phone. Looks cool enough to make a dark shiny cave.
